How Rhythmic Dictation Works
Objective
Listen to a rhythmic pattern and reproduce it by clicking on the beat grid.
How to Respond
1. Listen to the pattern preceded by a 4-beat metronome
2. Click on the boxes in the grid to enter the notes
3. The boxes with thick borders indicate the start of each beat
4. Click ‘Confirm’ when you have finished entering the pattern
5. You can listen to the pattern as many times as you like

♩ = Quarter note (1 beat)
♪ = Eighth note (1/2 beat)
𝄽 = Quarter note pause
𝄾 = Eighth note rest
Tips
• Count the beats along with the metronome
• Try clapping along to the beat
• Listen to it several times before replying
• The darker boxes are the main beats (1-2-3-4)
